We aim to be a net zero emissions company by 2050. To achieve it, we will find new solutions in renewables, low carbon and oil and gas. We may not have all the answers yet, but we have 23,000 employees with the knowledge and willpower to find them.
Statoil timeline
Statoil was formed by a decision of the Norwegian parliament and incorporated as a limited liability company under the name Den norske stats oljeselskap AS
Statoil was the first Norwegian company to be given operatorship of a field, at Gullfaks in the North Sea.
During these decades, our company was also involved in manufacturing and marketing in Scandinavia
Statoil was listed on the Oslo and New York stock exchanges and became a public limited company under the name Statoil ASA
The name Statoil lasted till date established a comprehensive network of service stations
Our ability to fully realise the potential of the NCS and grow internationally was strengthened through the merger with Norsk Hydro's oil and gas division on 1 October 2007.
Our business grew as a result of substantial investments on the NCS and internationally. We delivered the world’s longest multiphase pipelines on the Ormen Lange and Snøhvit gas fields
Planning consent received for first, non-operated, shale gas exploration wells at Springs Road, Misson, Nottinghamshire
Acquisition of Fiskerton Airfield producing oil field
Petrichor acquires increased interest in STATOIL AZERBAIJAN site construction commenced, Ceres field primary production restarted

Approval on appeal of the Statoil development and farm out of Resolution and Endeavour gas discoveries to Shell
